I think it's a bad idea myself. In the past I have had numerous fuel pump failures (4 in one vehicle in a two year span), but those vehicles had fuel filters, so either one could be changed out if problematic.

This is my first vehicle with the "all in one" fuel pump & filter....and it's been rock solid to date. I am hoping for a failure just before the factory warranty runs out

Yeah you gotta love the way fuel filters are anymore. My '94 Dakota you have to drop the tank to get to the filter.

common problem with many cars, volkswagen for one. Fill up the tank and it will disappear after few rides.

Unplugged the battery and (so far) the check engine light has stayed out.

Thinking of buying a locking gas cap, if for no other reason, than to make sure the cap is on tight.

Were's everybody getting theirs?

Sure was nice when you screwed out the gas line in the carb and removed the little "stone" filter as they were called. Actually liked the inline filter up by the carb better held by 2 clamps, 5 min job at the most. Stripped the thds on the line in the carb one time but local auto store had adapter which was like a neoprene expanding plug from what I remember (about 33yrs ago), then you had to use the inline filter.
